The various chapters in this book represent almost all of the presentations at the Satellite Symposium of the 17th CINP Meeting held in Nagoya, September 15 - 17, 1990 at the Castle Plaza Hotel, on NMDA Receptor Related Agents: Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Behavior. About 120 Japanese and international scientists, from U.S., Canada, Norway, U.K., France, Germany, attended this symposium and 40 oral and poster papers covering various aspects of this Seminar were presented.

The research reported herein strongly suggests that NMDA receptor related agents are useful to define the nature of ionic channels coupled to a variety of neurotransmitters. Special emphasis was given to the biochemical, pharmacological and behavioral relationships to N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) antagonism. Ten sessions were held including: I. NMDA Receptor and Ion Channel; II. PCP Binding Site; III. Neurotransmission; IV. Molecular Pharmacology; V. Neuropeptides; VI. Electrophysiology; VII. Aging; VIII. Antagonists and Ischemia; IX. Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics and X. Clinical Aspects.
